For users in Singapore and other Asian regions, the August app can only be installed on an Android device via manual APK installation. This is because the Google Play Store version restricts account creation for Singapore/Asia users.
Create august account for andriod phone user
- Download august app from this link
- select "Open" and "Install" app. Allow “Install unknown apps”.
- Open august app and create account
Setting up the August Lock after August account has been created.

Please fully close the August app (do not just exit to the Home screen).

Download and install any free VPN app from google play store.

Open the VPN app, select "United States" as your location, and activate the VPN.

Reopen the August app after VPN is activated and proceed with the lock setup (Fully close and re-open august app if region error occurs)

Open the battery cover of the August lock and remove the battery blocker

From the august app select - set up a new device - Enter serial number manually - use product selector - August - Smart lock - Wifi smart lock (ASL-04)

Follow the in app instructions after device is found.

After the lock is successfully set up, you can disable and uninstall the VPN app if you wish.
